Kalapriya with Rajasthani Folk Musicians Rupayan at the Smithsonian Institute October 16 - 19, 2008
To celebrate the opening of the exhibition Garden and Cosmos: The Royal Painting of Jodhpur at the Freer & Sackler Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute, Kalapriya and Rupayan performed at several events over the three-day celebration, including a special performance for Gaj Singh II, the Maharaja of Jodphur-Marwar. Shakira Performs with Kalapriya
On Saturday, August 26, 2006 international pop star Shakira attended the dance concert of Chicago classical Indian dance company Kalapriya Dance. She was so impressed with the company that post-performance she hired Kalapriya artistic director Jain and company on the spot to work with her on her upcoming MTV Video Awards. Two Kalapriya dancers, Aravinda Tota and Kriti Marwaha, were featured along with Shakira at the opening of her MTV Video Awards presentation of her hit "Hips Don't Lie."
